Injury forces Rutger to skip Ironman 70.3 Antwerp !

During the last week of June, Rutger had to return from his training camp in Font Remeu (France), because of an injury in his left leg. After detailed examination in the hospital, it was found not to be very bad, but meanwhile he already had missed the ITU world championchip LD in Lorient, France. The next race would be the Marc Herremans Classic ( Ironman 70.3 Antwerp). Unfortunately, last week Rutger was forced to go back to the hospital because of continuous pain in his left leg. It was found that the inflammation in his leg had come back. This means that he will have to forgo participation in Antwerp too. While he will be unable to run for the next two weeks, Rutger will continue his standard swim and bike training. Hoping that everything will go back to normal afterwards, he will be able to fully execute his training plan for Hawaii and start fully prepared in the World Championship!

beenvlieskwetsuur verhindert deelname aan de Marc Herremans Classic!!

Eind Juni is Rutger teruggekeerd van een trainingsstage in Font Remeu omwille van een kwetsuur in zijn linker onderbeen. Na grondig onderzoek bleek het niet al te ernstig, maar ondertussen had hij wel het WK lange afstand in Frankrijk gemist. Er werd nu volop gefocust op de halve Ironman van Antwerpen. Spijtig genoeg zal Rutger ook aan deze wedstrijd niet kunnen deelnemen. Vorige week moest hij wegens voordurende pijn terug naar de kliniek, waar bleek dat de beenvliesontsteking was teruggekeerd. De volgende twee weken kan Rutger wel verder zwemmen en fietsen, maar hij moet de looptrainingen volledig stopzetten. Als daarna alles terug in de goede plooi valt, kan hij alle trainingen terug hervatten en komt zijn deelname aan de Ironman Hawaii niet in gevaar.
