Poker championship
In the evening, after a full day of training and when little Tille is already having nice dreams, Sofie and I watch one of the DVD-series that we brought from Belgium on our computer (European DVD’s cannot be played on an American player and television, because of the piracy protection). We have started over here with the last 2 episodes of the first season of Prison Break. (T-bag rules!). Afterwards, we could choose between Alias 5, the 4400 3 or the OC 2. We selected OC. A very nice and relaxing series about a few rich families from Orange County. It is like Beverly Hills 90210, but for adults. The reason we brought our own DVD’s is that over here in America, there is nothing interesting on the television (it’s even worse than at home). As Bruce Springsteen is singing: ’57 Channels and nothing on’.
The only thing I will watch on TV once in a while is the World Series of Poker. First class amusement! They start the tournament with more than 10000 participants and will eventually finish with one champion, who will receive the nice sum of 12 million dollars!!! You should compare that to the 110000$ that the Ironman Hawaii winner will receive. Triathletes also will complain once in a while about the starting fee for an Ironman (475$), but the entrance fee for this Poker Championship is nothing less than 10000$!!!
