Doping control

Today, Saturday, we were caught by a little surprise: after the check in of our bike, we had to go for a doping control. I was not alone: Marino Vanhoenacker, Torbjorn Sindballe, Craig Alexander, Zamora and a few others were also selected. For me, a check before the race is a good thing: the now famous proteins in my urine, which cause a false-positive epo-test, are the result of a long and strenuous exercise (like a race). Chances that these proteins would cause trouble are minimal just before a race. That is why Professor Delanghe, one of the people that did scientific research on my urine last year, had proposed to have all doping controls just before the race instead of after it. Apparently, the doping authorities have remembered this one way or another. Anyway, such a doping control is always quite nerve breaking. This time it took more than 2 hours and, on the day before the race, that is not good for the concentration.
Tonight, we are all going to bed quite early, since tomorrow, we have to get up at 3.30 am. The race starts at 6.30 am. Have a good day (if you are in Europe) or a good night (if you are here in Australia, like me).
